2025-1_20

FAW South Africa, a division of FAW Group, saw its annual terminal sales soared by 31.9% to 5,000 units for the first time, accounting for a market share of 18% and ranking first in South Africa.

FAW South Africa saw its monthly sales volume of Jiefang brand exceed 500 units in July 2024.

In 1994, the first Jiefang CA141 truck entered the South African market, making FAW Jiefang the first and only Chinese auto brand in South Africa at that time. In 2012, FAW Group, in collaboration with the China - Africa Development Fund (CADF), increased its investment in South Africa and initiated the construction of the FAW Coega plant. The plant was designed to have an annual capacity of 5,000 units. The project received attention and support from both China and South Africa and was listed as a key overseas investment project by the Ministry of Commerce of China.

Since 2013, FAW Group has been actively implementing the Belt and Road Initiative, accelerating its globalization drive and forming a new pattern of all-round opening-up. On July 10, 2014, the FAW Coega plant was completed and officially put into operation. As the production base of FAW Jiefang in South Africa, the FAW Coega plant has produced over 17,000 Jiefang trucks to date. It has become the largest, most advanced and standardized truck production factory in Southern Africa and is hailed as a model of China - South Africa cooperation.

Having taken a deep root in South Africa for three decades, FAW Jiefang has not only become a market leader in South Africa but also expanded to the surrounding Southern African countries relying on its South African base. FAW Jiefang has established a complete operation system in Southern Africa, covering production, sales and service, with over 40 sales and service channels spreading across countries and regions such as South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Mozambique. Moreover, FAW Jiefang has set up a central spare parts warehouse and a customer service center to supply the entire network and meet customers' after-sales service needs. Meanwhile, by focusing on the tractor and freight carrier markets, FAW Jiefang has developed a full-value-chain marketing approach to meet the needs of customers in Southern Africa, providing them with efficient and reliable comprehensive vehicle solutions.

Looking ahead, FAW Jiefang will continue to increase its investment in the South African and Southern African markets, accelerate the overseas layout of all elements, expand its product line, broaden its sales and service network, deepen financial cooperation, enhance customer satisfaction and strive to build China's first century-old automotive brand.

FAW is a leading global manufacturer of quality passenger cars, trucks, and buses. Established in 1953, the company is China’s oldest and largest automotive group. Annual sales exceed three million units.
